Terms of Service
Last updated: May 21, 2026
1. Acceptance of these terms
By creating an account or otherwise using Synapse (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. The Service is operated by the Synapse team (“we,” “us,” “our”). You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service.
2. The service
Synapse is an AI-powered learning platform. It generates structured course content (lessons, quizzes, homework, projects, and a per-course AI teacher) on topics you describe; it grades your submissions; and it surfaces spaced-repetition practice based on your performance. We may add, change, or remove features at any time.
3. Accounts
You are responsible for the security of your account, including your password and any activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at the contact address below if you suspect unauthorized access. We may require you to verify your email address before using certain features.
4. AI-generated content
Course content on Synapse is generated by large language models. This means:
- Generated content may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, or biased.
- Generated content is not a substitute for professional advice (medical, legal, financial, etc.). Do not rely on it for decisions that require expert judgment.
- You are responsible for evaluating generated content before acting on it. We do not guarantee its correctness, fitness for any purpose, or alignment with any particular curriculum.
- Grading and feedback are also produced by AI. They are advisory; they are not an authoritative academic evaluation.
5. Your content and the marketplace
You retain ownership of content you create or upload (prompts, homework submissions, uploaded files, written responses). When you generate a school and mark it public, or otherwise publish content on Synapse, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, and display that content as necessary to operate the Service, including making it available to other users via the marketplace.
You represent that you have the rights to any content you submit, and that submitting it does not violate any third party's rights. We may remove content that violates these terms or that is reported and confirmed to be infringing.
6. Acceptable use
You will not use the Service to:
- Generate content that is illegal, defamatory, harassing, or that infringes intellectual property rights.
- Generate content depicting child sexual abuse, real-world violence against identifiable people, or other content prohibited by applicable law.
- Attempt to extract model weights, system prompts, or other proprietary infrastructure of the Service.
- Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of the Service without prior written authorization.
- Use automated means to generate content at a scale that interferes with our ability to serve other users.
- Misrepresent AI-generated content as human-authored in contexts where that distinction matters (academic submissions, etc.).
7. Payment and credits
Synapse uses a prepaid credit system. You purchase packs of synapses (in-app credits) and spend them on AI-powered actions inside the platform: generating schools, regenerating content, enrolling in marketplace schools, and other paid actions identified in the app. New accounts receive a one-time starter grant of synapses upon email verification. Pack sizes and current prices are shown on the Pricing page.
Pack purchases are final. Synapses are non-refundable and non-transferable. By completing checkout, you acknowledge that synapses are credits for an immediately-rendered AI service and you waive any right to refund, withdrawal, or chargeback once the synapses have been delivered to your account, except where required by applicable law. Synapses do not expire.
Synapses spent on paid actions are likewise non-refundable, including in cases of dissatisfaction with the AI-generated output. If a paid action fails for a technical reason on our side, the corresponding synapses are automatically refunded to your account.
In the case of a billing error (duplicate charge, complete failure to deliver purchased synapses, etc.), contact us at the address below and we will resolve the issue.
Payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your full card details on our servers; that data is held by Stripe under their own terms.
8. Termination
You may delete your account at any time by contacting us at the address below. We may suspend or terminate your account at our discretion if you violate these terms, if we are required to do so by law, or if continuing to provide the Service to you becomes impractical. On termination, we will delete or anonymize your account data within a reasonable timeframe, subject to legal retention requirements.
9. Disclaimers and limits of liability
The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that generated content will be accurate.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) one hundred U.S. dollars. We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we will notify you by email or by an in-product notice. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict-of-laws provisions. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or the Service shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
12. Contact
Questions about these terms, or notices required to be sent under them, should be directed to synapse@bondpb.com.
